It has a 25-mile circular track for walking and cycling and the reservoir offers water sports such as sailing, trout fishing, windsurfing and canoeing. The reserve features 20 bird hides, and is the home of the British Bird Watching Fair each year in August.
Oakham, the County Town of Rutland is a classic English market town mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It has a castle, market place, butter cross and stocks, plus a famous school. Its streets contain a variety of shops and restaurants, along with the traditional market Wednesday and Saturday.
